Inconel 601 (UNS N06601 / W.Nr. 2.4851)
Inconel 601 (UNS N06601 / W.Nr. 2.4851) is a nickel-chromium alloy, that is highly resistant to oxidation through 2200°F. Inconel 601 develops a tightly adherent oxide scale which resists spalling even under severe thermal cycling. The alloy has good high temperature strength, and retains its ductility after long service exposure. Inconel 601 has good hot corrosion resistance under oxidizing conditions. Inconel 601 is not suggested for use in strongly reducing, sulfur bearing environments. A nickel-chromium alloy with an addition of aluminum for outstanding resistance to oxidation and other forms of high-temperature corrosion. It also has high mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.

Features
- Outstanding resistance to oxidation at high temperatures
- Good resistance to carburizing conditions
- Good mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures
- Inconel 601 has good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and is specifically recommended for service above 550 ℃ because of higher creep-rupture properties, resulting from controlled carbon content and coarse grain size.
Applications
- Trays, baskets and fixtures for heat treatment plant
- Strand-annealing and radiant heater tubes, high-velocity gas burners, wire mesh belts in industrial furnaces
- Insulating cans in ammonia reformers and catalyst support grids in nitric acid production
- Components in exhaust gas systems
- Combustion chambers in solid waste incinerators
- Tube supports and ash-handling components
- Components of waste-gas detoxification systems
- Oxygen preheaters
