Monel R-405 (UNS N04405 / W.Nr. 2.4360, 2.4361)
Monel R-405 (UNS N04405 / W.Nr. 2.4360, 2.4361 the free-machining version of Monel 400. A controlled amount of sulfur is added to the alloy to provide sulfide inclusions that act as chip breakers during machining. A Ni-Cu alloy with high strength and excellent resistance to a range of media including seawater, hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids, and alkalies. Used in marine and offshore engineering, chemical andhydrocarbon processing equipement, valves, pumps, shafts, fittings, fasteners, and heat exchangers.
